"Die Fledermaus", composed by Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), is considered the greatest work among the many Wiener operettas and has many movements unique to Strauss. Since the story is based on New Year's Eve events, the music is often performed in German-speaking countries around the end of the year. This "Die Fledermaus Fantasy for Brass Octet" is a medley of the following pieces: "Entr'acte" (Act 3), "Komm mit mir zum Souper (Duet)" (Act 1), "Einen Walzer Spielt Uns Auf!" (Act 2), "6 o'clock bell" (Act 2), "So Muss Allein Ich Bleiben" (Act 1), "Ich stehe voll Zagen" (Act 3) and "Entr'acte" (Act 3). The medley itself is free from the story, but when playing, study carefully each scene, lyrics and others. As to "Die Fledermaus Overture", many great recordings are available, you will be able to learn various musical styles and how to connect them naturally. Play each scene smoothly and vividly in this medley. Commissioned by Izumi Junior High School in Oumi City Toyo, 2010, and premiered by their brass octet at TAMA Ensemble Festa on December 26t, 2010.
