Takayoshi “Tad” Suzuki

A trombonist since he was in junior high school, Tad Suzuki later attended Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He continued studies with Mr. Kiyoshi Ito of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Suzuki professionally performed with the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and The Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

As an educator, Suzuki advanced the Fukuoka Technical University High School Band to World Class ability, as evidenced by their remarkable 1987 Chicago Midwest performance and American tour.

Mr. Suzuki was highly regarded in Japan for his very comprehensible and effective musical interpretation. After emigrating to America, he lectured at California State University at Long Beach for one year. He then accepted his current professorship of conducting and performing at University of Nevada Las Vegas. Suzuki produced and directed the “Tad Wind Symphony,” with his characteristic attention to melodic expressiveness and ensemble blend, in an exciting collection of hallmark works for Wind Ensemble.
