Alfred Reed

Dr. Alfred Reed, revered as an inspiration for Japanese Band performance and composition has, in the past 18 years, visited the nation 49 times. He was the first foreign composer to both conduct and record with the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, resulting in a total of 18 CD efforts. He has conducted the Osaka Municipal Symphonic Band, Basai Civil Wind Orchestra, Otonawa Wind Symphony, and Kinki and Tohu University Bands, to name a few. His "Springtime Celebration" was commisioned by the notable Tenri High School Band.
Dr Reed is currently Adjunct Professor at Senzoku Gakuen University; its Wind Orchestra premiered his acclaimed "Fifth Symphony" at the WASBE convention in Hamamatsu in 1985. His appearances are managed by Art Productions International of Tokyo.
